A high level of communicative competence in the use of English.
The theoretical background necessary to understand the structure and use of language in general and of the English language in particular.
The ability to use knowledge of linguistics and the English language in research and teaching.
Knowledge of the literature of English-Speaking people and the historical and cultural background through the works of major writers and literary movements.
Eligibiligy:
A Candidate shall be eligible to the first year of the Degree of Bachelor of Arts in English literature required to have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (Academic or Vocational stream) conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu (or) an examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the syndicate of Periyar University.
Duration of the Course:
The course for the degree of Bachelor of Arts in English literature shall consist of three academic years divided into six semesters.
