The Master of Arts degree programme in English literature (M.A English) is designed to deepen and extend the comprehensive background at a more advanced and exacting scholarly and professional level, and to develop in the student a measure of specialization in a particular area within the discipline of English Literary Studies.
Moreover, the degree offers an advanced study of literary texts, their social and historical contexts, and ways of interpreting them. The programme also encourages the students to study a wide range of texts both past and present, and consider the variety of critical approaches available at the beginning of the twenty-first century.
Through directed reading and focused discussions, students are offered the opportunity to develop their skills in textual analysis and to extend their awareness of different ways of reading.
The programme with the supervision offered within the project units, fosters advanced research techniques and academic literacy.
Eligibiligy:
Candidates seeking admission to Master of Arts in English degree course shall possess: A. An Under Graduate degree in English Language and Literature. B. An Under Graduate degree in English Language with Computer Applications.
Duration of the Course:
The duration of course for the degree of Master of Arts in English shall consist of two academic years divided into four semesters. Each semester consist of 90 working days.
